12U Spartans Take 2nd at Saratoga Miss Tourney

The 12U #Spartans had a great weekend of #softball going 6-1 at the Saratoga Miss Tournament this past weekend. Unfortunately, they came up one game short as they lost in the Championship to the CT Mirage.

The Spartans came out of pool play 3-0 and were tagged as the #1 seed, giving up only 6 runs in those 3 games. MVO’s for those games were Emilee Eister, Hannah Smith, & Carlie Rzeszotarski.

The first of four games on Sunday was a mercy rule victory over the Berkshire Blaze. The next few games were far more exciting as they were both walk off wins with the Spartans coming up big in the clutch in the bottom of the 7th. Game #2 was a victory over the EC Bombers as the winning run scored from first on a double by Hannah Smith. In game #3, the Spartans beat the host Saratoga team on a single by Danielle DeBonis after Smith was intentionally walked to get to DeBonis.

Our Spartans ran out of gas in the final game falling to the CT Mirage as they got revenge for an earlier 4-1 victory by the Spartans in pool play on Saturday. Our girls showed a lot of heart as they all battled through injuries, bumps and bruised on a very hot day. Even though we came up one game short, we are all extremely proud of them all. Great 3 days of softball!
